At 7:55 this morning, 6th October, Stornoway Coastguard requested the immediate launch of Oban’s Trent Class All Weather Lifeboat, Mora Edith MacDonald, to assist a workboat which had lost power in the Sound of Kerrera in strong Southwesterly winds.

The volunteer crew were, as usual, fast in response and were on scene shortly after being paged.

Fortunately a fish farm boat was able to assist the workboat onto a mooring in Ardentrive Bay prior to the arrival of the lifeboat.

Coxswain John Hill says: ‘The swift action of the local fish farm boat prevented the situation escalating into something more serious.’

With the workboat safely on a mooring, the lifeboat transferred its crewman to Kerrera before returning to Oban, where the lifeboat was ready for service again by 8:25.
